Some of essential design considerations in reading room are: - Seating that is resilient but not soporific, giving adequate support to the back (and to the neck and arms as well) for maximum comfort. - Light coming over one shoulder, either moderately strong daylight or artificial light that illuminates the room and concentrates fairly intense but diffused light on the reading material. - Avoid distracting sights, sounds, and household traffic. Soft music without lyrics may reading concentration. |
Beyond these essential design considerations for a reading room, we might add nearby coffee tables, accessible shelves to hold books or magazines, and enough space to stretch the eyes. Such conditions, which are adequate for more-or-less casual reading, can be achieved easily in the typical living room. Sometimes, members of the family often do serious or technical reading, this is the time they may require more than those essential considerations, with a study room , working room or other private place that should be planned appropriately.
